Private Clients/ Care Recipients
Tasmanian Occupational Therapy services are able to offer services to clients who are self funded and no referral is required from their GP- they can contact us directly.
If Occupational therapy is included in their extra's cover with their private health insurance, a referral is most likely preferred by the insurer from their Doctor.
Recipients of High level aged care services are eligible for Occupational Therapy Services and should request their aged care provider to make a referral to Tas OT Services.
Most Clients will benefit from Occupational Therapy for the following reasons:
- Long term illnesses such as Multiple Sclerosis
- Injuries or Reconstructive Surgery such as Hip replacement
- The elderly who would like advice in how to to remain safe living in their own home.
In such situations OT's can provide education, adaptive equipment and home modification recommendations to increase a person's independence and safety.
An increase in a persons independence and safety also improves quality of life for the client and their loved ones.
